Jatbula Trail Itinerary

Starting at Nitmiluk Gorge and finishing at Leliyn, also known as Edith Falls, the Jatbula Trail is a 62km one way hike.

The trail can be completed in five day and four nights or six days and five nights, each overnight camp site is set up near a cascade or spring.  

Following the western edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment the walk takes a trail over sandstone plateau and through woodlands, open forest, monsoon forest and riverine landscapes.

The best time of year to do the Jatbula Trail is June to September. From June to August walkers will generally experience cooler temperatures ranging from 30 degrees during the day and down around 10 degrees at night. 

Jatbula Trail has a limit of 15 walkers leaving each day so it’s imperative to book ahead. You can check the availability and book here.  A camping fee of $3.30 per adult / $1.65 per child, per night is applicable.

The trail is named after Jawoyn Traditional Owner, Peter Jatbula, who was instrumental in securing land rights for the Jawoyn people.
